Waking up in the middle of the night with a toothache or getting hit in the mouth while playing your favorite sport certainly isn’t at the top of your list of fun things to do, but it happens. Dental emergencies are never welcome, but knowing what to do can make a scary situation a bit more tolerable.
So, what is a dental emergency, and how can Pampa Dental Arts provide reliable treatment when you need it most?
We Offer Reliable Emergency Care
Often, patients tell us that they weren’t sure if they should call our office because they didn’t know if their situation was a real “emergency.” We want you to know you can ALWAYS call us for advice and that you should never hesitate to reach out with a question or concern.
We offer emergency dental care to our Pampa patients!
Here are some of the most common dental emergencies we treat:
- Knocked-out tooth — If your tooth gets knocked out, try to gently reinsert it or store it in a glass of milk or inside your cheek. Please don’t touch it by the roots, and contact us right away.
- Broken tooth — When you break your tooth, try to find any pieces and bring them with you to your appointment. In the meantime, rinse your mouth to clean the area.
- Broken or lost restoration — If you lose or break a filling, crown, or other restoration, bacteria can enter the area and lead to an infection. Rinse your mouth and contact our dental team.
- Soft tissue injury — For injuries to your lips, cheek, gums, or tongue, apply pressure to stop the bleeding. If you’re experiencing significant bleeding that won’t stop, call 911 or go to the emergency room.
- Severe tooth pain — If you have a toothache that doesn’t subside with an over-the-counter pain reliever, it’s best to call us immediately. You can place a cold compress on your face until you reach our dental office.
- Abscess — This serious dental infection requires immediate treatment. If you have pain that radiates to your jaw and ear, a fever, or swollen gum tissue around the affected tooth, you need to call our office immediately.
